Unmet Need
Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs) are essential in oncology, ICU, and other high-acuity care settings, enabling repeated blood sampling, drug delivery, and long-term vascular access. However, routine blood draws, flushing, and disinfection of these lines remain highly manual procedures requiring up to 24 protocol-driven steps performed by trained clinical staff. These workflows are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and vulnerable to human error, increasing the risk of catheter-related complications such as Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSIs), which can significantly impact patient outcomes while adding substantial cost and operational burden to healthcare providers.
Proposed Solution
VenoBotic is developing LineGuard™, an automated platform designed to perform blood sampling, flushing, and disinfection through CVADs as a single integrated workflow. By replacing multiple manual handling steps with a standardized automated process, LineGuard aims to reduce contamination risk, improve protocol consistency, save nursing time, and support more efficient clinical operations. The platform is initially targeted at high-frequency use environments such as oncology units, intensive care departments, and potentially home-care settings, where reducing caregiver workload while improving safety and compliance can create significant clinical and economic value.
